Armagetron Advanced

If you were a fan of the popular 1982 film, Tron, then you’ll love the fast-paced computer game, Armagetron Advanced. The basic premise of the game is quite similar to the lightbike scene in Tron.  You are in control of a lightbike, and you must navigate your way through the maze of walls. If you crash into another’s or your own wall, you explode.

The idea sounds simple, but unlike many of the other Tron clones available, Armagetron portrays lightbikes in 3D. You are able to choose the color of your bike and wall, as well as your ‘nickname’.

The game allows you to play locally, against a group of smart AI bots, or online, against the rest of the world. With some tweaking of settings, the online community has separated servers into different game modes. For example: racing servers have bikes with no trailing walls, and you must avoid the obstacles ahead of you, fortress servers make a strategic game in which members of teams have to either defend their fortress or attack the enemy’s, and of course, high rubber servers, which brings the rubber (a setting that adjusts the amount of time before you actually die before you hit a wall) up, creating a fast-paced game with trapping, digging, and unfortunately, camping.

Whether you are an avid gamer or just a procrastinator, Armagetron Advanced is a wonderful game to play in any situation. And perhaps it will give you some nostalgia! ;)
